A sweater , a cardigan and a matching hat , all designed with a decorative lace pattern that gives the garments a soft and airy character.
The work is generally started with two different gauge needles, with the thinner variety used for edges and the slightly coarser for the pattern knitting itself. A common detail for the garments is the well-thought-out finishing; the bottom edges are often knitted in stockinette stitch with an interwoven row of yarn overs and knit together stitches, which creates a decorative folded edge when folded to the wrong side and hemmed.
The pattern itself in the garments follows a diagram that is combined with edge stitches to facilitate assembly. For the sweater and cardigan, traditional techniques such as single and double cast-ons are used to shape armholes and necklines. The sweater is constructed with a back piece where the pattern is centered, while the cardigan requires a division into front pieces and back pieces.
